Museums
Chicago is world renowned for its amazing collection of museums. Most are open everyday. Some are free all the time, while others are free only on designated days or with passes available at Chicago Public Libraries.
Most students will return again and again to Chicago’s major museums – including the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and Art Institute.
But students interested in the Chicago Studies Program are encouraged to seek out museums that focus on interesting aspects of Chicago. Museums with temporary or permanent exhibitions about Chicago include:
- Chicago History Museum
- DuSable Museum of African American History
- Jane Addams Hull House Museum
- McCormick Tribune Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum – Nestled inside the southwest bridge tower on the Michigan Avenue Bridge, the McCormick Tribune Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum tells the story of the Chicago River.
- National Museum of Mexican Art
- A. Phillip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum
- Chicago Architecture Foundation
- Museum of Broadcast Communication
