Work in “the City that Works” through internships with Chicago-area organizations. Through College-sponsored Internship Programs, students have worked with:

  • John Stroger (Cook County) Hospital Department of Trauma
  • Immigrant and Refugee Services organizations
  • The Mayor’s Office, City of Chicago
  • Regional policy and planning organizations
  • Culture and arts institutions like the Steppenwolf Theatre and the Art Institute of Chicago

College Sponsored Internship Programs

  • Summer Links is an intensive 11-week, paid internship program for 30 returning College and graduate students committed to public service, community building and social change. Summer Links is run by the University Community Service Center (UCSC). In addition to working full-time at Chicago community organizations, Summer Links interns meet twice a week at sites throughout the city to explore issues of social change with Chicago community and civic leaders.
  • The Metcalf Fellows Program provides paid, substantive internships exclusively to students in the College at the University of Chicago.
  • The Human Rights Internship Program offers a select group of Chicago students the opportunity to learn the skills and understand the difficulties inherent in putting human rights into practice. Some Human Rights Interns have worked with Chicago-area organizations.

Other Internship Resources
