“Louder than a Bomb” is the world’s largest youth slam poetry competition, sponsored throughout the Chicago region each spring by UCSC nonprofit partner Young Chicago Authors. LTAB hosts over 1,000 youth poets for a month of Olympic-style poetry bouts, workshops, and special events. Students representing schools and community groups in the Chicago area perform original solo and group poems in a tournament-style competition. The competition culminates in an epic showdown between the finalist teams at a major Chicago venue. Chicago Studies is able to provide a limited number of tickets to members of the University of Chicago community (students, faculty, staff) and to high-school-aged students participating in our partnering youth programs in Woodlawn and Washington Park.
