Chicago Studies

Media

Chicago has been home to legendary journalists like Mike Royko, Ben Hecht, and Jerome Holtzman, as well as to radio and TV pioneers like Studs Terkel. A visit to the Museum of Broadcast Communications puts history in context. And of course, Oprah continues to broadcast her award-winning TV talk show from Chicago’s North Side.

As the third largest media market in the country, Chicago hosts subsidiaries to all the major American television networks. Some of the largest owners of daily newspapers are based here in Chicago.
