Professor Veronica Vegna's Italian students were treated to a night at the opera to see Verdi's Nabucco at the Lyric Opera Chicago. This immersive experience in Italian language and culture provided an opportunity for the students to hear poetic Italian sung by professionals, acting as audience to one of Italy's most revered artistic forms.

The film screening of Blaxploitalian and following discussion with director Fred Kuwornu (February 3, 2016) provided insight into the past and present reality of Italian cinema. I found it particularly interesting to hear the individual historical accounts of the underrepresented actors who have starred in Italian films. These accounts coupled with Mr. Kuwornu's own story gave a very tangible image of these situations.
