The Discursive City

A Chicago Futures Distinguished Lecture with Leila Brammer

Despite the numerous disagreements, political squabbling, and clashes of recent memory, everyone can come to one consensus: it feels like no consensus is possible. Amongst the seemingly endless divides of modern society, it can feel impossible to move forward, or to even see a way to move forward. Furthermore, how can an authentic democracy flourish under such conditions? And how then can that democracy be salvaged? Join Chicago Studies and guest lecturer Leila Brammer, Director of the Parrhesia Institute for Public Discourse, for her presentation on The Discursive City.

Leila Brammer

Leila Brammer is the director of the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse, a program dedicated to exploring and fostering respectful and productive public discourse through the lens of the Chicago Principles. Brammer has taught and researched the subject of public discourse for over 30 years, which naturally led to her role as director.
